Brickwork and Scaffolding Package

In todays current climate the construction industry is always looking at ways to cut costs, without any detrimental effects on quality and health and safety.

Here at the Gill Group, we feel that we have found a way to do this by utilising our Building and Scaffolding companies and offering a combined Brickwork and Scaffolding package.
The package takes into consideration not just the costing issues, but maintaining strict Health & Safety policies.

Health & Safety:

• Scaffolding operatives to set up temporary horizontal lifelines to each lift

• All Brickwork operatives and scaffolding operatives to wear fall arrest harnesses at all times

• Traditional Brick built buildings no longer require internal of external scaffolding.

• Rescue system policy for falls from height, put into place with Scaffolding and Bricklaying operatives working together.

• A combined Health & Safety Auditing System to cover both trades based on ISO 9002 procedures and practices., with full site documentation provided.

• Method Statements and Risk Assessments issued and monitored for both trades individually but taking into account joint working procedures.

Costings:

Combining of Brickwork and scaffold packages allows for contracts to be evaluated and quoted far more competitively.

For example, the need for adaptions can be reduced and in many cases totally removed, as the scaffolding can be erected in 1.8m high lifts, fully boarded to allow all trades to work on all lifts, rather than the current system of building 1.5m high lifts progressively for the benefit of the Brickwork operatives, that then require to be adapted for the other trades.

This cuts down considerably on scaffolding time and increases overall productivity for all trades.

Further advantages in combining the Brickwork and Scaffold packages.

• Two main trades operating together will have only one overall supervisor to ensure efficiency of work without unnecessary delays., and health & safety remains a priority for both trades.

• The Main Contractor will have only one Sub-Contractor to deal with covering both the brickwork and scaffolding works., which simplifies the overall project management.

• Applications for payment, method statements, health & safety policies etc and required paperwork can still be produced separately for the two trades as required, but are dealt with by one overall Company contact., and are covered by one Insurance Policy for both trades.

• General labourer operatives can be utilised between the two trades, adding to the efficiently of the labour force and ensuring maximum use of working times on site.

• Site visits and project meetings only require one Sub-contractor to attend to cover both Scaffolding and brickwork trades., so eliminating unnecessary discussions between the two trades.
